In between my J.Crew Fall Kit posts, I need to take a day to highlight some of my favorite new arrivals. You may notice that I have changed the category name to J.Crew because honestly, I rarely write about clothes from any other store. I’ll be updating the category on all other J.Crew posts dating back four years, as well. Should be fun! I basically use this forum to make a list of what I like, and what I may consider purchasing, and if someone else reads it too and gets something out of it, then great! If not, I really don’t care. Crabby attitude, you say? Read the blog title!
Anyway, last month’s drop was the big Fall delivery. This month greets us with a few updates; mostly in lambswool offerings, outerwear, and…that’s about it. Again, don’t look at these posts as highlights of all of the new arrivals. This is a list of what I like, or sometimes what I think is so ridiculous that I just have to say something about it. Only one piece jumped out at me this month that invokes not rage or ridicule, but simply question.
LAMBSWOOL INVERNESS FAIR ISLE SWEATER $118.00
Lambswool makes its return this month. It’s still summer, but shorter days and cooler nights have already begun. Before we know it, we’ll want to add the heavier layers during the daylight hours. The Fair Isle is a classic design. This is one of three or four options they are offering.
LAMBSWOOL GRAPHIC CHECK SWEATER $98.00
Then, there’s this weird thing. I know this season is supposedly “all about” graphic prints, or something like that. I tell you though, at 35 I’m all about simple clothes that will last in style and construction for at least a few years. I’m not that guy still wearing my no-vent suit from 1998, but you get the idea.
LAMBSWOOL SWEATER $64.50
This is more my style. Plain, simple, warm, comfortable. I own this sweater in a medium blue, and in charcoal grey. That’s enough for me.
MAYFAIR TOPCOAT IN WOOL $595.00
The wool coats have returned too. As I have dropped a suit size, I may also consider buying a new coat for the winter. I like the color of this version. They’re also showing the usual wool-cashmere combo in black, charcoal, and camel again. This is certainly not an immediate need, but something I will think about.
LEATHER GARRETT JACKET $1295.00
When the apocalypse happens, nobody will mess with the guy in the badass leather jacket.
LACROSSE FOR J.CREW DUCK BOOTS $125.00
A practical, fairly priced winter boot is something everyone can use. I have a pair of these from L.L.Bean, so I certainly don’t need another. But if I did, I would have considered these.
SCOTT-NICHOL™ RUTLAND FAIR ISLE SOCKS $34.00
Finally, J.Crew offers us a new sock collaboration. This time they’re a warm, wooly, fair isle kind. I own a couple of pairs of socks like these that I wear on Christmas morning at my in-laws’ house. No, not both at the same time. That would be too warm.
New arrivals can be found in J.Crew stores, and at jcrew.com.
Check back on Monday for my J.Crew Fall Kit #2.
