It’s a Friday night rarity, but instead of bumming around the apartment with some take-out and a movie, my wife and I will be getting some dinner and a couple of drinks at the local French hot spot, Bar Tabac. This is one of the first places I ever visited in the neighborhood, and it’s been a good old standby for a burger, or a croque monsieur, or a nice French wine or cocktail ever since.
Have a great weekend!
It’s a little hard to see what’s going on in this photo, so I’m just going to explain it…and while we’re at it, we can file this Happy Hour post under Operation Trim as well.
At my last weigh-in I was down over 10 lbs since the beginning of the year. This week I decided to pull out some clothes that hadn’t been fitting very well, and tried them on. Some pieces fit pretty nicely; others still have a ways to go. This sweater, in particular is one I could get away with, but I’ll probably wait another 5-6 lbs before I think about it again. Last December I attempted to put this on, and couldn’t even get it past my shoulders. I’m happy.
Today I’ve consumed 14 of my 39 point allotment. My planned dinner is only about 7 points (yes I planned ahead), leaving me with 19 points to spare. Since it’s Friday, I think I will treat myself to a martini. I may go out tonight; I may not. Kristina has a work event. So, in the event that I do not go out, come 5:00 I’ll be in the kitchen with gin, vermouth, and a shaker.
Have a great weekend!
Birthday drinks for my friend, Liz tonight at The Back Fence. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a real (aka. non-hipster) dive bar. Should be fun.

Have a great weekend!
I’m writing this post from a hotel room in Boston, MA, but by the time it publishes at 4PM on Friday, I’ll be on my way home – cold, tired, and in need of my wife, my couch, and some feel-good movie watching. Moneyball arrived from Netflix the day before I left for this trip, so I have that to look forward to. Add some Thai food, a glass of scotch, and the company of my wife and cats, and we’ve got the making of a rather pleasant evening at home. But before any of that happens I have to get up Friday morning, drive 2 hours north for a meeting, then make my way home. So, darling if you read this I will be tired, I will be cranky, and I will want red curry with chicken over pad thai noodles. Oh, and some of those pork dumplings…
