I was recently on the Men’s Health website when I saw a link to the video for the workout Daniel Craig performed on Mondays in preporation to play James Bond in Casino Royale (2006). Perhaps I will try it next week. Ill let you know how that “works out…”
Every year I like to buy myself either a new watch, or a new pair of sunglasses. Over the last two years because of work/financial situations I’ve been conservative on purchases only buying a pair of Ray Ban Caravans because I actually needed new sunglasses. I don’t need a new watch right now even though I am eyeballing that Longines Hydroconquest Chronograph with the rubber strap. Like the watch, these Persol sunglasses would be an unnecessary, yet wonderfully luxurious purchase. The lenses are probably as wide, but not as tall as say a Ray Ban Wayfarer. Like my every day glasses, these fit my face properly, and damn do I love the color.
I’m not gonna lie – like the watch, these shades are inspired by Casino Royale. Daniel Craig wears this exact model in a few scenes. Pierce Brosnan & George Clooney have even been spotted in these. And who wouldn’t aspire to be at least one of those guys for a day, or to at least look as cool as the do in sunglasses?
That’s what I thought.

At this point we should all be aware that Bond 23 has finally been given the green light, and will feature the return of Daniel Craig as James Bond 007, and will be directed by Sam Mendes. Much of the internet buzz speaks of the return to the glory of Casino Royale (2006) while leaving Quantum of Solace (2008) a distant memory. I agree that Casino was a far superior movie, but let’s not discount Quantum completely.
Some positives included:
- Awesome car chase scene at the beginning with a sweet Alfa Romeo chasing Bond in his sweeter Aston Martin.
- Strawberry Fields.
- The airplane chase.
- Daniel Craig sporting Tom Ford.
- Sick MI6 technology (which unlike in old movies, actually made sense for the time.)
- Believable story line – why wouldn’t a sinister organization try to bribe a dictator?
I am excited to see what Sam Mendes will bring to the mix. The countdown to November 2012 has begun…I just realized I will be 35 when this movie is released…geez.
